Welcome! My name is Jon Carstairs Dad, teacher and improvised comedian.

As a teacher and play specialist, I have noticed an ongoing trend with the children I teach, namely that they are not engaging in free play nearly as much as they used to.

​

Being a dad has enabled me to see first hand the positive benefits that play brings: from emotional development to imagination, from problem solving to language. I am passionate about play, and I feel a sadness that so many of our children and young people are having their play opportunities taken away by the pressures and innovations of modern society.

I set up Play for Parents to help address the growing decline in play. I provide a blog and online course for parents to support them improve, maximise and understand play, and have the best possible play experience with their children.
